💡 Good to know: premiums are based on age bands — applying before a milestone birthday (like turning 50) locks in this year's lower rate and can save over TT$1,100 a year.

Insurance words, explained simply
Premium
The price you pay for your plan (yearly, or twice a year at 55% each time).
Deductible
The first part of your medical bills each year that you pay yourself. After that, the plan pays its share. Higher deductible = cheaper premium.
Coverage amount / maximum
The most the plan will pay out toward your bills.
Rider
An extra benefit attached to your plan — like dental & vision on Provisor.
Waiting period
Time on the plan before certain benefits start (e.g. maternity: 12 months on both plans).
Pre-existing condition
A health issue you already had before joining — generally not covered. Best to join while healthy!

No pressure — just honest numbers, so the choice is clear. Typical private-care costs in Trinidad & Tobago:
TT$0+Major heart surgery, private*
TT$0+Hip replacement at a Port of Spain private facility
TT$0+Average private ICU admission (local study)
TT$0+/moOngoing meds for pressure, sugar & cholesterol*
And the bill is only half of it — major surgery often means 6–12 weeks off work while the household expenses keep coming.
With cover, numbers like these shrink to your deductible — and income protection keeps money coming in while you heal.
*Estimates compiled from published local sources and studies; actual costs vary by facility and case.
Protect your income too
Medical bills are only half the story — recovery time can stop your paycheck. Praesidia Personal Accident cover fills that gap:
Lump-sum cash payouts if an accident causes serious injury.
Monthly income up to 75% of your salary, for up to 24 months while you can't work.
Daily hospital cash, plus optional cancer and life cover up to $700,000 each.
Tick the Praesidia box when you apply and I'll include a personal quote with your health plan — no obligation.

Common questions
When do my benefits start?
On Global Care Plus, accidents, infectious disease and covered illness are payable from your effective date. A few benefits have waiting periods: tonsil/adenoid surgery — 6 months; maternity, preventive care, organ transplants and congenital conditions — 12 months. On LifeCare Provisor: dental & vision — 6 months; maternity — 12 months.
Do I need approval before hospital treatment?
On Global Care Plus, yes — contact Guardian at least 3 business days before any planned hospital admission, surgery or diagnostic tests (regular doctor visits don't need approval). In an emergency you get treated first, then notify Guardian within 2 business days. I personally help my clients handle this step so nothing gets missed.
Who can join Global Care Plus?
Adults aged 18–69 who live in Trinidad & Tobago, the wider Caribbean or Latin America. Residents of the USA, Canada, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands aren't eligible, and spending more than 180 days a year outside the region can end coverage. Children are covered under 19 — or up to 25 while full-time students.
What about health problems I already have?
Pre-existing conditions — anything diagnosed, treated or showing symptoms before your start date — generally aren't covered on either plan. That's the biggest reason to join while you're healthy: everything that starts after your effective date is covered per your policy.
What's not covered?
The main exclusions on Global Care Plus: pre-existing conditions, cosmetic or elective procedures, fertility treatment and contraception, routine eye tests and glasses (unless your schedule includes them), injuries from hazardous sports, custodial or long-term care, over-the-counter medicines, and treatment outside your country of residence unless Guardian approves it. Your policy wording always governs — ask me about anything specific.
How do claims actually work?
In-network, most hospitals bill Guardian directly — you show your ID card and cover only your deductible and any non-covered items. For other bills, submit the claim form with the original itemized bills within 90 days and Guardian reimburses per your policy. I help with every claim.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes — choose "twice a year" and each payment is 55% of the annual premium (a small convenience charge for splitting it). Paying once a year is the cheapest way overall.
What if I change my mind after applying?
No pressure, ever. Most policies include a free-look window after delivery (per your policy terms — I'll show you exactly where it is in yours), and we can review your options together at any renewal.
Is there an age limit to join?
New members can join LifeCare Provisor up to age 64, and Global Care Plus from 18 to 69. Outside those ranges? Message me — there are still options I can find for you.
